Photo: Newsnmusic Aspiring American singer and model, Joanne Borgella Ramirez has died after a fierce battle with cancer. Joanne, who competed in the 2008 edition of popular music reality TV show, American Idol, was declared dead on Saturday, October 18, 2014 according to a family statement posted on her Facebook page in the early hours of today. Aged 32 at the time of her demise, Joanne had been locked in a battle with cancer, which she unfortunately lost. ‘With heavy hearts, we are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Joanne,’ the family statement reads without disclosing details of where she died. The Long Island, New York native was one of the last 24 contestants when she took part in the reality show in 2008. Kicking off a career in modelling as well apart from music, Borgella made an appearance on ‘Mo’Nique’s Fat Chance, another reality show for plus-sized models, which she won. With a soaring modelling career, she had turned professional and had also launched her own clothing line before her untimely death. She announced in a video post in 2013 that she had been diagnosed with cancer, which she said had spread to her chest at the time and provided updates of her treatment on her Facebook page. Her last Facebook post was on September 23, 2014, writing: Gooooood morning!! We are heading back to radiation for 2 procedures!! God js with us!! I have lots to fill you in on..
