Selena Gomez couldn't fight back tears as she performed during the American Music Awards in LA on Sunday night — and even Taylor Swift felt the emotion.
The 22-year-old songstress took the stage to perform her new song, "The Heart Wants What Wants" — a track about her on-and-off relationship with Justin Bieber.
Wearing a stunning, nude Giorgio Armani gown with a thigh-high slit, Selena hit the stage and prepared to perform while the audio of her pre-recorded phone conversation — which is heard in the beginning of the song's music video — played.
"When I was on stage and I was thinking of… I know him though, and I know that I know his heart, and I know what he wouldn't do to hurt me," she says in the audio.
And then she belted out powerful lyrics like "The bed's getting cold and you're not here, The future that we hold is so unclear, But I'm not alive until you call, And I'll bet the odds against it all."
At one point, a shadowy figure appeared of a man, who many believe represented Justin. Towards the end of the song, Selena shed tears — and that's when Taylor got emotional.
