Three dangerous London gangsters have been jailed after police found a stash of guns and a kilo of cocaine hidden in children’s wrapping paper.
Babatunde Arogundade, 28, from St John’s Wood, Fred Jones-Lartey, 34, from Bromley, and Nicole Douglas, 28, from Wembley, were sentenced to a total of 43 years imprisonment for gun and drugs offences at the Old Bailey yesterday.
Drugs stash: police found a kilo of cocaineDouglas was arrested in May 2013 for possession of a kilo of cocaine during a stop on a vehicle in Friern Barnet Road, Enfield. Following a search of her address large quantities of cutting agent were found.
Hidden: the cocaine was covered in children's wrapping paperArogundade was arrested shortly afterwards in Hemel Hempstead after officers stopped a car he was travelling in and discovered six firearms in the boot - including a handgun, a shortened pump action shotgun and a sawn-off shotgun together with ammunition.
Further inquiries by police linked the drugs to Arogundade and Jones-Lartey.
Detective Inspector Keely Smith, from the Metropolitan Police Service's Projects Team, said: "This case has prevented six firearms from reaching the streets of London and having potentially lethal outcomes. I believe Arogundade was looking to sell the weapons on to those who would be willing to use them.
“This investigation highlights the work my team is doing on a day-to-day basis to keep the community safe."
Arogundade was sentenced to a total of 27 years imprisonment, Jones-Lartey to 12 years and Douglas to four years.
