The veteran wizard on the wheels of steels has over the last couple of months celebrated his 25th year in the game and is still soaring high. Michael Umoru, one of the youngest managers in the music and entertainment industry, started off 4 years ago at the age of 20 when he discovered and signed Dammy Krane whom he managed for 2 years and subsequently got him his record deal with 2face’s Hypertek Records. Shortly after he signed rapper, Vector Tha Viper in 2012, the rapper immediately bagged over 20 awards in that year including the prestigious NEA award, Headies lyricist on the roll, Best rap act and others. In December 2013, he partnered with Osagie and signed up E.M.E’S vocal house Shaydee and since then, Shaydee’s career has since witnessed massive transformation from being involved in Hennessy Artistry this year to getting his first endorsement deal with leading taxi company, METRO TAXI. In April 2014, he added one of the biggest names in the music industry, DJ Jimmy Jatt to his management stable, putting together the iconic DJ’s 6-city tour, his grand 25th anniversary dinner and the release of the biggest album in Africa which topped iTunes Charts, as well as the release of Jimmy’s autobiography. In a chat with NET, Michael said: ‘I was highly inspired by my elder sister, Mosunmola Umoru, who is a successful farmer today, she thought me to follow my passion and stick with it to the end. It hasn’t always been rosy as I’ve had difficult patches, but God has been faithful. ‘I also want to thank God for providing me with outstanding clients who have become family to me, who believed in me against all odds and stayed by me throughout my journey so far’.
