Tabuk police have arrested a man for raping several children between the ages of seven and 11 during the Eid-al-Adha holidays, local media reported.
Police stations in the region had earlier received several reports stating that a man had reportedly lured children by asking them to guide him to nearby sites, such as restaurants or schools.
“The man would take the children in his car to an area outside urban boundaries during lean periods of road traffic and rape them,” a local daily said, quoting Tabuk police spokesman Lt. Col. Khalid Ghaban, who said that such complaints were repeatedly received during the Eid holidays.
A police team conducted an extensive hunt for the suspect based on the testimony of victims and the description given by them about his vehicle and eventually arrested him.
The rape victims were able to identify the man, who confessed to his crimes and took police to the locations where he committed the rapes, the spokesman said.
