Jazan police have found a missing 13-year-old Arab girl, and arrested two Yemeni men with her.
One of the men claimed to be the guardian of the girl and said that he married her off to the other Yemeni male. Both are in custody.
Jazan police officials had been searching for the girl since her parents reported her missing from their home in Basamtah. The girl’s brother had discovered she had gone missing. On the evening the case was reported, one of the family members received an SMS saying the girl was in good health and in Jeddah.
Col. Awad Al-Qahtani, media spokesman of Jazan police, said that Samtah police immediately launched an investigation. They traced her mobile to the vicinity of Samtah.
The father of one of the two men involved in the incident said his son was unaware of what was happening, and was not educated. He said the main suspect should be the other male who allegedly kidnapped the girl and then claimed she was a Yemeni orphan who needed a guardian.
He said his son was fooled by the other man, and had developed friendship with him during Taraweeh prayers in Ramadan. He said his son has no criminal record and is married with four children.
