Police in Duncan say three people were found dead Monday morning inside a home on the city's north side.
According to the Marlow Review, the three people inside the home in the 1200 block of Bent Tree Street were Marlow Review Publisher John Hruby, his wife Tinker and their daughter Katherine.
“There was just a lot of disbelief, there were tears shed,” said Todd Brooks, an editor for the paper.
Brooks said Tinker had recently begun helping out with the Marlow Review’s lifestyle and courts section and Katherine – a high school volleyball player – helped deliver the paper on a regular basis. The family is survived by a college-aged son.
“They were very involved in their community, they loved their animals and they loved each other, Brooks said. “It was just very evident.”
According to Duncan Police Chief Daniel Ford, officers were greeted with such an “intense” scene when they arrived at the home just before 9 a.m. that they realized they needed help from OSBI to process the scene.
Around 6:30 p.m., investigators were seen marking a black Jeep that was parked across from the home for evidence and towing it away.
Ford said nobody is yet in custody for the murders and the hunt for the suspects has not yet begun.
“Certainly we’ll take any tip we can get,” Ford said. “Once we have all the evidence gathered, we’ll certainly start to put together the case and see where we’re going.”
A medical examiner has removed the bodies from the home. As of Monday night, there is no word on how the family was killed.
“We’re trying our best to go on,” Brooks said. “We’re going to publish a newspaper this week. We have a feeling that’s what John would want us to do – is keep going on and that’s what we’re going to do.”
