Sauti Sol beats Davido at EMAs 2014

KENYAN Afro-pop group, Sauti Sol, has been announced by MTV Base as the winner of Best African Act category of the 2014 MTV EMA.The global music event that celebrates the hottest artistes from around the world has, over the years, seen Nigerian artistes having significant success in the Best African Act category.

This year, however, Kenyan Afro-pop group, Sauti Sol, is officially the first Kenyan act ever to receive this award. The Afro Pop band beat fellow nominees, Davido, Toofan, Diamond and Goldfish, to win the title. With their victory, Sauti Sol now has the opportunity to be voted into the prestigious Worldwide Act Award category, the winner of which will be revealed during the 2014 MTV EMA in Glasgow.

British rock legend, Ozzy Ozbourne, will be honoured with the Global Icon Award and will be in Glasgow to accept his award.

The 2014 MTV EMA, in association with Smirnoff Ice Double Black with Guarana, will broadcast live from the SSE Hydro in Glasgow.
