Police were called to Netherbury Close in Gorton, Manchester, at 10.15pm on Saturday following 999 calls from residents.
Officers found Dale collapsed with serious injuries at the scene, which is a cul-de-sac off a main road.
He was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary where he died in the early hours of this morning, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Detectives investigating his death say he was kicked and punched in a sustained attack.
They are hunting two men who were seen reversing from the cul-de-sac in a grey or silver car, possibly a hatchback.
It is believed Dale met the men at the scene after arriving there on a moped, but it is not clear if it was a chance encounter or if the meeting was pre-arranged.
Neighbours in Gorton said he sang “like an angel” and had previously tried to make his big break on the X-Factor.
He had also previously played in London, featuring on the big stage at Somerset House.
Fellow rapper Kapital KO said it was a sad day for all who knew Dale.
He said: “The streets have just taken another young male of mine. Why the people insist on this way of life it only leads to death. RIP Dale Deezy.”
Police are searching for two black or mixed raced men in their mid to late 20s after what they described as a street fight.
Stefan Gumbs, an actor from Manchester who has appeared in film Looking For Eric and TV series Waterloo Road, also paid tribute to Dale.
He said: “Omg, just heard Dale Deezy died last night from a fight. I still can’t believe how quick life can be taken away without warning, and there’s us on a day to day basis moaning about dumbness.
“Falling out with people over daftness, complaining about life every day, and just being plain ungrateful about everything.”
Zanesha Edwards said: “Deezy had so much potential. I rated him so much. Used to show everyone his video when asked about artists from Manchester. Lovely guy too. R.I.P.”
And Manchester City starlet Kean also paid tribute after Dale’s tragic death.
He said: “The world we live in is scary, man. R.I.P. Dale Gordon.”
The Virus Syndicate record label have launched a campaign to get a YouTube clip of Dale singing to go viral, using the hashtag #RIPDEEZY
They said: “RIP Deezy! Tragic news. So much talent – yet another young man’s life taken too soon in Manchester.”
Twitter user Jonny Force said: “I’ve just got some really upsetting news – feeling sad. RIP Dale, aka Deezy. I’m wounded. Sick. Cruel world man.”
Police are campaigning for witnesses to come forward after Dale’s murder.
Detective Chief Inspector Howard Millington said: “This was a brutal and sustained attack, which appears to have been unprovoked. The victim was punched and kicked to the ground. This wasn’t a quick, spur of the moment altercation. They were there long enough for people to see what was going on. He has sadly succumbed to his injuries.”
He added: “We are in the early stages of our enquiries and working to build up a picture of the events leading up to this young man’s death.
“Early enquiries suggest there had been some kind of fight between the victim and the men who were seen to flee from the scene in a silver car.
