With three kids for three men: Ibinabo walks to altar

Being to hell and back can be used to describe the life of former beauty queen and actress, Ibinabo Fiberesima. If you followed her story in the media, you can tell that she has seen it all, being there and done that as they say. However, she has surmounted most of her challenges in life. In fact, today, Ibinabo is the president of the Actor’s Guild of Nigeria(AGN). A position she has been holding for over two years now. She just got re-elected for another term as the head honcho of the guild.

The ever radiant lady despite her age, 43, continues to turn heads with her beauty, grace and charm. If she competes in a beauty pageant today, she might beat many ladies in their 20s. With such beauty it is normal for men to drool over her, and many wanting her as a trophy wife. Yet after over four decades, Ibinabo remains a single lady. She has never been married in her life though she had been linked with numerous men in the past. She is always linked with one relationship or the other. Many may say that she traded marital life to pursue career and success in the entertainment field.
Despite her single life, Ibinabo is not virgin Mary; no, she is far from Virgin Mary. She has three children, all of whom come from three different fathers. Despite her indifference to her lifestyle, many see women who have led such life as having three children out of wedlock and for different fathers as a taboo. African customs and traditions really do not agree with such arrangement and a lot of people have criticised her for how she has lived her life.
Speaking with a cross section of Nigerians, more people seem are not in support of her life choices especially when it comes to her relationships and her indiscriminate way she have her children. According to a veteran movie maker, who asked not to be named, “Ibinabo is one of the women caught up in the superstar life and finds it difficult to settle down with one man. I never knew she had children, I thought she was one of those actresses that have decided to remain single. She however is still in the same category with those ones that cannot stay in a man’s house. I am sure she is over 40 years old now, you should ask, what can such a beautiful woman be doing for 40 years without marrying. The truth is that the money and the fame have made them proud and they cannot see themselves under any man.”
Mrs Aderinsola, a textile seller in Oke Arin, Lagos took a traditional view to Ibinabo’s ways. “I like the woman a lot especially when she was in prison, I was praying for her. But when I heard that she has three children from three different men, I was disappointed. I saw her as a smart woman who makes wise decisions. How can such a woman have talks with young girls of today? If she was from my village, she would have been excommunicated. It is un-African and I don’t believe any culture condones such,” she said.
Ibinabo, however, has taken a I-don’t-care attitude to what people have been saying about her concerning her children. “I have a family to die for. All those that castigate me because I have children from different fathers should get a life. I adore my children. They have the grace of God upon them…,” she said in response to all what people have been saying about her.
However, there seem to be some relief coming to her romantic life in some weeks’ time. Recently Ibinabo finally revealed that she will be getting married soon. She will be marrying  Uche Egbuka on the 18th and 19th December 2014 at her hometown in Okrika, Rivers State. Egbuka, the fiancé has also had a rocky life when it comes to women. He is a divorcee who has two children already and he is not the father of any of Ibinabo’s children.
Ibinabo actually has five children. Asides from her three biological children, she has also adopted two boys. So at the moment she has four boys and one girl. Popular actor, Fred Amata is one of the fathers of Ibinabo’s children. The two had an elaborate relationship that made headlines, but like most of her relationships, that as well did not last.
Ibinabo asides being the AGN president is also the CEO of the Miss Earth Nigeria Pageant. In 2009 when she went to prison for manslaughter. She only spent 93 days out of her five years sentence.
