A teenager has died and 22 others have been injured after a ‘haunted hay ride’ crashed into a tree.
Police believe a mechanical failure may have contributed to the Jeep that was pulling the wagon to lose control.
The driver of the Jeep and a teenage boy are currently in hospital in critical condition.
The incident happened at Harvest Hills Farm in Mechanic Falls in Maine as part of the Gauntlet Haunted Night Ride.
While Maine state fire marshals inspect and licence all mechanical amusement rides, hay rides are not required to undergo such scrutiny.
